چکیده

Abstract Background Ephestia cautella (Walker) (Lepidoptera:Pyralidae) is one of the most economically important date fruits insect pests, which causes major losses in quantity and quality yield. The present study aimed to evaluate 3 entomopathogens: Beauveria bassiana (Basonym 1836), Metarhizium anisopliae (Metchnikoff 1879), Bacillus thuringiensis (Berliner 1915) var. kurstaki individually mixed with each other against E. stored fruits. Results Four concentrations from spores' suspension entomopathogen were sprayed on 50 eggs (24:48 h. old) (for fungal pathogens) 30 2nd instar larvae E glass jars. Pathogenicity was evaluated at different time intervals post treatments 3, 5,7and 14 days. Obtained results showed that mortality percentages stages increased by increasing tested exposure time. indicated reduction hatchability after separately treated (3.0 × 10 5 , 3.0 6 7 8 spores/ml) (27.50, 39.17, 48.33 62.50%) for B. (35.83, 44.17, 50.83 69.17%) M. respectively. After14 days treatment, recorded larval mortalities (49, 62, 77, 81%) (60, 66, 78, 89%) spores/ml), In case treating percentage (44, 52, 63, 72%) (2.0 2.0 9 11 respectively, after14 exposure. more susceptible than eggs. effective . combination entomopathogens LC50 ( + ) caused 67.00, 73.33, 63.33 86.29%, their efficacy controlling cautella. Conclusions could be recommended

Comparative Efficacy of CO2 and Ozone Gases Against Ephestia cautella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) Larvae Under Different Temperature Regimes

Comparative efficacy of three different modified atmospheres: 100% CO2, 75% CO2 + 25% N2, and 22 ppm ozone were examined against larval mortality of the almond moth, Ephestia cautella (Walker) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) at temperature regimes of 25°C and 35 ± 2°C and 60 ± 5% relative humidity, and 9:15 dark and light. Wandering young larval instars, which are fast growing, large enough in size an...

Infestation of Stored Saw Palmetto Berries by Cadra Cautella (lepidoptera: Pyralidae) and the Host Paradox in Stored-product Insects

The almond moth, Cadra cautella (Walker), is a common storage pest known to infest a wide range of dried plant materials, and it has been recorded from a warehouse in Florida during storage of dried passion-flower ( Passiflora incarnata L.) and dried saw palmetto berries Serenoa repens (Bartram) Small. Its status as a pest of stored saw palmetto was confirmed by trapping in a second warehouse u...

Influence of Larval Density on Biological Fitness of Ephestia Kuehniella Zeller (lepidoptera: Pyralidae)

Mediterranean flour moth, Ephestia kuehniella, is a cosmopolitan pest of stored products, and its eggs are widely used to rear parasitoids and predators for biological control programmes. This experiment investigated how larval population density affected the survival rate and reproductive output of this species under four rearing densities ( larva per 2 g food per vial; or 00, 500 or 000 larva...

Influence of Temperature and Relative Humidity on the Insecticidal Efficacy of Metarhizium anisopliae against Larvae of Ephestia kuehniella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) on Wheat

A series of laboratory bioassays were conducted for the evaluation of the insecticidal efficacy of an isolate of Metarhizium anisopliae (Metschnikoff) Sorokin (Ascomycota: Hypocreales) against larvae of the Mediterranean flour moth, Ephestia kuehniella Zeller (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), under various temperature-relative humidity (r.h.) conditions. The fungus was applied at four doses (0, 8 × 106...

Analysis of Host Plant Resistance in Some Genotypes of Maize against Chilo Partellus (swinhoe) (pyralidae: Lepidoptera)

Twenty available genotypes of maize were screened for resistance to Chilo partellus in the field. The genotype Sahiwal 2002 was found to be most susceptible while DK-6525 was most resistant. Maximum infestation was observed at the end of April while the minimum in the last week of March. Significant variations were observed in all the plant characters viz., number of nodes per plant, plant heig...
